  • SCHOOL MEALS AND FREE & REDUCED PROGRAM UPDATES

The government is no longer providing free meals to all students; you must participate in the Free & Reduced program.

    A. New applications must be submitted every year in order to qualify for free meals.

“Reduced” category is temporarily being treated as free/no-charge for this school year.
Both Categories entitle the student to one compliant breakfast and one compliant lunch per school day.
In order to be considered “compliant” (reimbursable), breakfast must consist of 3 food items, one of which must be a fruit or juice, and lunch must consist of 3 food items, one of which must be a fruit/juice or vegetable.
It is mandatory under USDA rules that charges to student lunch account must occur if minimum requirements to make a meal are not met. Any items over or under maximum for meal limit will be charged at a la care prices.

    B. Whether you believe you will qualify or not, we are asking you to complete the Free and Reduced Application for processing. Although it is called the “F&R application” the Government uses the data for a large number of other funding or regulatory purposes for schools including Title Grants and Pre-K funding. It is a benefit to our district and the community to have full and accurate data. Additionally, free or reduced program qualification provides additional benefits, such as assistance with student device protection plans and summer P-EBT benefits.
